Suspension of Unemployment taxation

In the 111th Congress, a bill was introduced to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to suspend the taxation of unemployment compensation for 2 years. Did you know that up until 1986 that it was never taxed. Not even by the states. Yes, Ronald Regan the great tax reformer, started his new source of revenue for the fed. Then the states jumped all over it and effectivly lowered the payments by 10 - 12%. I would like to lobby Congress to reconsiter the bill. With your help an internet petition could do that. Then constant pressure thru the web could assure it,s passage. It'll take some work but is entirely possible. What do you think out there?

  1. I think this would be a great exercise to gauge to power of the internet. You couldn't even try this in China. Does anyone have experience in writing petitions?

  2. HR 4718 Is the bill before the House to suspend Federal Income tax on unemployment for THREE years. SUPPORT THIS BILL BY E-Mailing your Rep in the house. This is an extremely important bill for everyone on unemployment. Just do it.
